Public transport is changing on the Gold Coast. In addition to the light rail system, the Queensland Government is planning a number of transport initiatives including:

• priority high-occupancy vehicle lanes and bus services alongside the light rail corridor
• better bus connections to Coomera, Helensvale, Nerang and Robina railway stations
• longer public transport operating hours
• extension of the heavy rail line to Coolangatta.
